KUALA LUMPUR, 28 FEBRUARY 2023 – Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has welcomed His Excellency Dr. Tawfiq Fawzan Muhammed Al-Rabiah, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah Saudi Arabia on his official visit to Malaysia this week.

During his three-day visit , the minister took the opportunity to observe the Hajj Basic Course (Kursus Asas Haji) organised by TH for about 1,500 Malaysian prospective pilgrims which was held at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, Shah Alam.

His Excellency was accompanied by Dato' Setia Dr. Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department of Malaysia (Religious Affairs) together with TH senior management.

Earlier this year, TH has earned the Saudi Arabian Labaittom Award for the Best Awareness Programme in the Islamic World during the Haj and Umrah Conference and Exhibition in Jeddah for its effort in providing comprehensive guidance for Malaysian pilgrims to perform hajj.

Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah said TH is an exemplary Islamic institution in managing hajj pilgrims which has been internationally recognised by the Saudi Arabian government.

“We are impressed with how thoroughly TH manages the hajj training and guidance which involves theoretical and practical guidance for the prospective pilgrims here in Malaysia. Malaysian pilgrims are known to be knowledgable about the hajj and very disciplined,“ said Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah.

TH Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Amrin Awaluddin said, “The visit reflects the close ties between the two countries. We are very appreciative of Saudi Arabia’s continuous support for our hajj operations that has accommodated TH’s endeavours to provide Malaysian pilgrims with best-in-class hajj services every year,”.

Separately, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah also officiated the launching of the Ministry’s Hajj Awareness Programme which took place at Movenpick Hotel and Convention Centre (MHCC) KLIA. Under the programme, The Saudi Hajj Ministry will provide pertinent information for the upcoming hajj season, including public health and safety measures for pilgrims.

Also present at the launch were Deputy Minister For Umrah Saudi Arabia, Abdulaziz Abdulraheem Wazzan, Deputy Minister for Hajj and Umrah Services, Amr Reda R Al-Maddah, Deputy Minister for International Cooperation, Alhasan Yahya S Allamnakhrah, Mayor Al Madinah Almunawarah Region, Fahad Albuliheshi, Saudi Ambassador to Malaysia, Mesaad Ibrahaim AlSulaim. They were joined by TH Chairman Tan Sri Azman Hj Mokhtar , Executive Director of Hajj Operations Dato’ Sri Syed Saleh Syed Abdul Rahman, as well as members of the Hajj Advisory Committee.
