The Lembaga is given the jurisdiction under Section 4(1) of the Tabung Haji Act 1995 (Act 535) to administer the funds and oversee all matters related to the welfare of Hajj pilgrims. The Lembaga is also responsible for formulating relevant policies and other matters as provided under this Act.

The Lembaga holds full responsibility for the overall corporate governance of Tabung Haji, including the strategic development direction, and for setting objectives, policies, and strategies for management, while monitoring the achievement of these goals.

The establishment of the Lembaga aligns with the membership requirements as stipulated in Part II, Section 6 of the Act.

Composition of the Lembaga

The current membership consists of:-

1. One Chairman;
2. One representative from the Prime Minister's Department;
3. One representative from the Ministry of Finance;
4. Not more than seven (7) members who possess experience and knowledge in related fields.
